Here are the top five stories in Roswell today:
- An employee of the Roswell FD was charged after he hit and killed a pedestrian with his vehicle in east Roswell. The fatal incident occurred on July 13 as the woman was struck and killed as she was crossing the street. The victim was taken to Wellstar North Fulton Hospital with multiple injuries that included a laceration to the back of her skull. The driver was charged with homicide by vehicle in the second degree and failure to yield at a crosswalk. (CBS 46 News)
- A contract was signed on July 25 between the Roswell City Council and Inergy Solutions. They have announced the plans for a solar streetlight project where 35 solar streetlights will be installed between Holcomb Bridge Road and Nesbit Entry Drive. The $210,000 projected is expected to be completed by daylight savings time in the fall. (appenmedia.com)
- The 2nd annual Beaucoup Jazz and Blues Festival and Pop Up Art Village will be hosted by the Roswell Arts Fund. The Roswell Arts Fund, along with the City of Roswell, are looking for local artist to contribute to the photography and poetry exhibition. There is no fee for entry and submissions must be made before August 22. They will have a meeting on August 2 that will be open to the public to outline the program and answer questions for those interested in participating.(artaroundroswell.com)
- The Roswell Soccer Club is asking for parents of RSC and the community to save the date for the 4th RSC Casino Night Fundraiser. The event will be held on September 24. The club is asking for local support in the form of participation, volunteering or donating items to be raffled. All of the proceeds from this event will go to improvements of soccer fields and scholarships for players. (facebook.com)

- Local Art Exhibition: Come to the Vinings Gallery on Canton to see the works of artist Steven Quartly. His oil paintings showcase true Contemporary Impressionism. The exhibit begins tomorrow and continues throughout the weekend. (localaarp.org)
- Friends of the Roswell Library: The FOTRL's summer book sale starts today. Come to the Roswell Library for affordably priced paperback and hardback books. The sale will also continue on Saturday July 30 and Monday August 1. (Friends of the Roswell Library via Facebook)
- Volleyball Meetup: An Atlanta volleyball meetup group is looking for those who would like to join them in a game of volleyball. They are asking beginner to intermediate level player to meet at Don White Memorial Park in Roswell on July 29. Games will start at 5 p.m. (meetup.com)
