Roswell Garden Club Members Attend 89th Annual Garden Club Convention
Roswell Garden Club members attended the 89th Annual Garden Club Convention and brought home a total of 60 awards.
From Roswell Garden Club: Members of the Roswell Garden Club were among 300 statewide garden club members and guests attending the Garden Club of Georgia’s 89th Annual Convention April 18-20 at the Lodge and Spa at Callaway Gardens. The 3-day event spotlighted education and awards, beginning with several workshops and tours Tuesday afternoon.
Debbie Vann, Carolyn Herndon, Marcia Camp, Liz Nunley, and Jo Ann Jones attended five workshops that carried out the convention’s theme, “It’s All About the B’s: Bees, Butterflies, Birds, and Bats.” Several toured the Little White House at Warm Springs and the Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center at Callaway Gardens.
Noted butterfly expert Arabella Dane was keynote speaker Tuesday evening. Her subject, “All a Flutter: A Joyous Look at Butterflies and How We Can Protect Them.” Speakers at the workshops included naturalist and photographer Todd Schneider on Songbirds, beekeeper Cindy Hodges telling how bees help feed the world, and DNR Wildlife Biologist Trina Morris on the “Unlikely Eco Heroes: Bats.”

Callaway Garden staff members spoke Thursday on “Wildflowers: Attracting Pollinators in Large & Small Ways."
The club brought home a total of 60 awards. The first place awards from the Garden Club of Georgia included Civic Improvement, Horticulture Achievement, Litter & Pollution Control, and Public Relations. The Deep South Garden Clubs, Inc. also presented the Roswell Garden Club with 1 st place awards in Public Relations, Horticulture, Community Action, and Litter Control.

The Life Member Luncheon where National, Deep South Region and State Life members were recognized concluded the convention Thursday.
The award-winning Roswell Garden Club makes many contributions to the beauty of the city. It’s members spend countless hours on projects that educate the citizens and improve the quality of life in the area.
