Here are the top four stories today in Roswell:

  1. The 2023 Elite gymnastics season is beginning. The 2023 Winter Cup starts today, February 24 in Louisville, KY. The Winter Cup competition is the event that qualifies gymnast for the 2023 U.S. Championships. Roswell will be represented by three gymnast in the Senior Men's division. Maxim Bereznev from Woodstock, Chase Davenport-Mills from Johns Creek and Anthony Koppie from Fayetteville will compete for Roswell Gymnastics. The competition ends on Sunday, February 26. The routines from individual gymnast will be uploaded to USA Gymnastics' YouTube Channel. (insidegymnastics.com)
  2. The Atlanta Concert Band will be coming to Roswell next month. Their spring concert titled "Heroes & Villains." will be performed at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center on the afternoon of Sunday, March 12. This concert, filled with "hero-themed" music, will be played in tribute to members of the armed services. Tickets are now on sale for this patriotic show and can be purchased online or by telephone.   3. Do you know about Roswell Firelabs? Executive Director William Strika says that “it's basically like a recreation center for your brain.” This 1,200 square-foot area is a place to go to exercise and condition one's mind. This volunteer-driven nonprofit opened in 2018 and offers a variety of classes on various skills, which are open to residents. They train on skills such as laser cutting, 3D printing, woodworking, metalworking, and a space to make glass and sculptures. Roswell Fire Labs also works with members of the public to help create projects like floats for the Youth Day Parade. This is said to be a place where people come to create. (appenmedia.com)
  4. Councilwoman Sarah Beeson has officially begun her duties as the newly appointed Public Safety Liaison. Beeson went through orientation with the city's fire and police department, met their staff members, and toured their facilities. Next she will be making dates to have ride-alongs with Roswell's police, fire, and 911 personnel to get firsthand experience about the daily operations and lives of our Public Safety members. She looks forward to representing these departments on the City Council. (facebook.com)
