Here are the top four stories in Roswell today:

  1. The city of Roswell has vowed to help the Housing Authority of Roswell attain points for it to qualify for a development deal under the HUD program. This deal will help the housing authority redevelop the Grove Way Apartments. The city cannot legally issue a loan to help finance the project. Officials from the city of Roswell promised a letter of support for the housing authority as it seeks to gain redevelopment funds from HUD. Representatives from HUD have been assisting residents in this community with relocation options. (appenmedia.com)
  2. Registration is open for Roswell Rivers Alive. Keep Roswell Beautiful is looking for volunteers to help cleanup Roswell's parks and waterways. There are several cleanup sites located along creeks in Roswell. The Creekways volunteer group will tackle sites like Hog Wallow Creek and Big Creek at Liberty Square Park. The annual Rivers Alive clean-up day will be on September 17.(facebook.com)
  3. Some teachers across the nation are signing an online pledge to continue teaching Critical Race Theory. This topic has become a polarizing issue within the past couple of years. The the Zinn Education Project reported that one teacher from Roswell signed the pledge in June, but there were no teachers from Roswell who signed in July. The state of Georgia is currently discussing a potential ban on critical race theory teachings. (northfultontoday.com)
  4. Andrew Hertfelder, a tennis player from Alpharetta competed in the singles tournament in the junior Boys’ 16 category of the United States Tennis Association. Hertfelder won 847 points in the tournament. Players earn points every round in tournaments and they gain higher points the further into a tournament they advance. Hertfelder ranked 1,989 in the nation for the month of June. (northfultontoday.com)
