Here are the top three stories today in Roswell:
- Workers at the UPS Delivery Center in Roswell are certainly feeling the crunch this holiday season. With double the number of packages than other times during the year, staff at the delivery center have been sorting through deliveries non-stop since 1:00 AM Tuesday, December 20. To combat this enormous holiday uptick, Megan Carr, a district manager for UPS, stated that “We have prepared by staffing up all of the buildings, making sure all of the seasonal hires are in place and ready to go.” The deadline to get packages out before Christmas is fast-approaching. Wednesday, December 21, will be the final day to send packages by the 2nd-day air service. Thursday, December 22 is the last day to ship a gift using the company's next-day air package service. The Roswell Delivery Center is in "full power" mode for the next few days to ensure that all packages are delivered before Christmas Day. (www.wrdw.com)
- A Cumming man was arrested by Roswell Police after video footage showed him allegedly attempting to steal tires from cars at the Nissan car dealership on Holcomb Bridge Road. Police were alerted of the possible theft by the property’s alarm company. The man had left on foot by the time officers arrived. A man who was walking and fit the alarm company’s description of the assailant, was soon encountered by police. After reviewing the surveillance footage of the incident, the suspect was arrested and taken to Fulton County Jail. (appenmedia.com)
- A 90-year-old Roswell man who went missing on Monday, December 20 has been found. Roswell Police were looking for Otis Burge, after he left his Roswell residence to drive toward Cicero Drive in Alpharetta. Burge did not arrive at the Alpharetta property and the police department was notified. His license plate had pinged license plate readers several times throughout Monday night around Atlanta and East Point. Otis Burge was found a little before noon on December 21. Details were not given on how and where the elderly man was found. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
