  1. Residents of the 1,030-acre Roswell neighborhood Martin's Landing have opposing views on the growing deer population in the community. The growing number of deer freely roam, feed, reproduce and leave dropping in neighborhoods and backyards. Some homeowners have said that the deer have ravaged their yards and gardens. There are some residents who have erected fences that are high enough to keep the deer out of their yards. There are those who want the population reduced. Biologist from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources say that as natural habitats are being destroyed to make space for development, residential neighborhoods are a “buffet for deer.” Although the City of Roswell allows deer hunting with a permit, Martin's Landing bans all kinds of hunting. There are those who like the deer, who feed them and want them around. The issue remains controversial in the community. (appenmedia.com)
  2. At the specially called meeting on Monday, January 30, the City Council decided to partner with other cities in North Fulton to conduct their own local municipal elections. Each city will oversee elections in their respective jurisdictions. According to local officials, this partnership and self-management will save cities tens of thousands of dollars. Councilwoman Lee Hills says that city attorney David Davidson confirmed that a municipal election can be developed by November for Roswell. Many residents supported the proposal at Monday's meeting. 3. 7 Mindsets, a PreK-12 mindsets-based learning education center in Roswell, has acquired xSEL Labs. xSEL Labs is a developer of "scalable systems to assess and address the social and emotional needs of children." Assessments in xSEL Labs evaluates the social and emotional learning strengths of a student. These evaluations help educators decide what and how to teach students. Mark Belles, the CEO of 7 Mindsets, is excited that this acquisition will allow 7 Mindsets to give educators more understanding of their studentsSEL skills and areas where improvement is needed.
