- The cause of death has been revealed for former Roswell resident and ex-Broncos player Demaryius Thomas. He was found deceased in his Roswell home seven months ago. The Fulton County Medical examiner determined that Thomas died from "complications of seizure disorder." After his death, he was also diagnosed with Stage 2 Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). Examiners are unsure if the disorder was due to natural causes or to head trauma incurred during Thomas' career. Thomas had a 10-year career with the NFL. (broncoswire.usatoday.com)
- A couple in Roswell shared their shock after they received a bill for an ambulance ride their toddler took to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta-Scottish Rite. The American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance service responded to their call and transported their their 20-month-old to the ER after she experienced a breath-holding spell. They received a bill for the ambulance in the amount of $2,438. The ambulance provider was out-of-network with their insurance provider. A professional patient advocate, Cindi Gatton, explains how many ambulance service providers, like AMR, are categorized as ground ambulances. “In many places in the U.S., ground ambulances are provided by county EMS or governmental entities that don’t contract with insurance,” Gatton said. Many people around the country have this same experience. (cbs46.com)
- The Roswell Fire Department welcomed a new battalion chief Monday. Chief Thompson has been working in Roswell part-time since 2007. He most recently held the rank of captain. City Council members and members of the Roswell PD attended the welcoming ceremony. (facebook.com)
