  1. On January 5, 11 Alive News released a video about a “teen detained at Roswell High School after a gun was found.” The news update did not specify the actual location of the site. This incident actually occurred in Roswell, New Mexico. However, since no distinction was made, some news watchers assumed the story was about Roswell High School in Roswell, Georgia. Principal Miley's day was spent communicating and clearing up the matter with concerned parents. After notifying all parents via email, Principal Miley also shared a tip line where people can call in to report any suspicious or important information. (theroswellsting.com)
  2. Throughout the week of February 6, Fulton County will be conducting a series of tests for their emergency alert systems in the county. As part of Severe Weather Preparedness Week, Fulton County aims to educate residents about weather awareness. Every day next week will focus on a different emergency weather-related topic. Emergency alarms and radio broadcasts will be tested during various times in the week. Thunderstorm, tornado, flood and lightning safety will be heavily encouraged. (11Alive.com WXIA)
  3. More discussion is being made about a resolution to the ever-growing population of deer in the Martin's Landing community. Kaitlin Goode, a representative at the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, says that hunting is the best way to control deer herds in the neighborhood. Roswell does allow deer hunting with a permit, but the property manager of Martin’s Landing does not allow or plans to allow hunting in the community. They suggest that homeowners grow deer-tolerant plants to deter the deer from coming into and being comfortable in their yards. (wsbtv.com)
