Roswell PD: Man Pretending to Be Deputy Scamming Locals

Multiple victims have already come forward.

Roswell Police is warning local residents about a scam involving a man claiming to be a Fulton County Sheriff’s Deputy.

According to several locals who've fallen victim to the scam, the man calls and tells a resident that there is a warrant for their arrest for speeding through the toll booth on Ga 400. He then claims that the warrant will be voided if they pay a fine by credit card or money order.

"This is a scam," authorities wrote in an alert, Monday morning. "The police department or sheriff’s office would never call you for a payment. Do not give out your credit card information, bank account number, or purchase a money order."
