Here are the top three stories in Roswell today:
- A Roswell man was arrested in Alpharetta after he was caught clocking speeds of up to 127 miles per hour on GA-400 on March 5. The man was driving a grey Infinity coupe and was pulled over while exiting the highway onto Haynes Bridge Road. At the traffic stop it was found that the driver did not have a valid driver's license and his blood alcohol level was more than double the state's legal limit. The driver also had an open can of beer in the vehicle's cup holder. Alpharetta officers reported that the driver presented a license that was stolen two nights prior from a pizza delivery driver. He's now facing charges of disorderly conduct, DUI, speeding, reckless driving and driving while unlicensed. (appenmedia.com)
- The City of Roswell is once again reminding residents that the Recycling Center is open and is the place to go to recycle various paper products and paper recycling-related services. The Recycling Center will take shredded and flatten office paper, old catalogs, hard and soft cover books, copy paper, magazines, the yellow pages, newspapers and more. Paper shredding services are also available if have you have sensitive documents that you need to dispose of. The Roswell Recycling Center is a free service for residents and is located on Maxwell Road. The center is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 8:30 AM–5:00 PM. (roswellgov.com)
- The Roswell Police Department is a partner of the Metro Atlanta-based nonprofit, Revved Up Kids. Together they collaborated to host a personal safety and self-defense workshop day at Roswell Area Park on March 11. Alli Neal, the founder of Revved Up Kids and created the organization in 2009. Her passion and purpose is to protect children from the exploitation of sexual abuse. She was the facilitator the day's seminars. A group of teenage girls and their parents met in the park's auditorium to discuss personal safety and to learn basic self-defense moves. Neal says these workshops encourage parents to have “family conversations” about uneasy subjects. Another day of self-defense and personal safety training is being planned with Roswell Police Department for summer 2023. (appenmedia.com)
