Here are the top four stories today in Roswell:
- A Roswell woman was arrested in Florida after being accused of taking money from a local church charity in Dawson County, GA. She was taken into custody by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. The suspect allegedly stole funds from the St. Vincent De Paul Christ Society charity in the fall of 2021. Arrest warrants state that the suspect took $3,000 from the charity. (dawsonnews.com)
- Plans for a mixed-use development has been approved by the Roswell City Council. The site is estimated to be a little over 11 acres, and will be located at Woodstock Road and Bowen Road. The developer, Track West Partners, will erect six buildings with restaurant, retail and office space. The developers requested six concurrent variances, but only half of them were approved. - Furkids Animal Rescue and Shelters completed 232 pet adoptions through it's participation in the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Summer National 'Empty the Shelters' event. Furkids in Alpharetta and Cumming offered $25 for pet adoptions in the month of July. "Bissell’s 'Empty the Shelters’ event is always a great success with us here at Furkids," Cat Adoptions Manager Zac Hadlock said. Much relief was offered to area shelters due to this successful campaign. (MDJOnline.com)
- Fulton County started the school year being short on bus drivers. They are short by a quarter of the bus drivers needed for a complete fleet. This means there is a delay in pick-up and drop-off times for most students. The county sent letters home to parents in which patience was requested for upcoming delays in scheduling and services. They county is currently and diligently seeking new bus drivers to ease this shortage. Paid training will be provided to all new hires. (The Atlanta Voice)

- AVE Gallery: Summer Hang-Ups: The 2nd annual Summer Hang-Ups Art Show will be held this Friday and Saturday at the Visual Arts Center in Roswell. The showing is sponsored by AVE Gallery and will feature a large wall of pin-ups with over 200 unframed works of art. The gallery will also display fine art and wall sculptures. (roswellgov.com)
- Blessed Trinity HS: Blessed Trinity High School's football team held their annual Fall Sports Leader program. Player who are seniors and their fathers participated in their Jersey Ceremony in the school's Chapel. (twitter.com)
- Fulton County Schools Safety Update: The superintendent of Fulton County Schools, Dr. Mike Looney, outlined updates to the district’s employment contingency plan and security measures. These updates are in response to mass shootings and teacher shortages occurring nationwide. (wabe.org)
