Here are the top four stories today in Roswell:
- A huge congratulations goes to the Roswell Division of Emergency Communications. The city's 911 center was recognized by the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch as an Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE). This was awarded for emergency medical dispatch protocols. This division previously received accreditation in fire and police protocols. The Roswell 911 center is now one of the 21 agencies worldwide who hold all three accreditations. (www.facebook.com)
- Georgia has joined the Anti-Robocall Litigation Task Force. This national task force's aim is to investigate and take legal action against telecommunication companies that bring foreign robocalls to the U.S. It will target companies that profit from what is considered illegal scam traffic. It will also investigate and shutdown companies that do not take steps to mitigate scam calls. Fulton County was ranked in the top 50 counties nationwide that are subject to receiving the most robocalls. (appenmedia.com)
- The Area 13.1 Half Marathon will be this weekend in Roswell. The path for the race will go from Willeo Road to Eves Road. There will be rolling closures along the route as runners approach intersections. The city expects many runners in the area who will be participating. The race and closures may last from 6:30 to 11 p.m. (facebook.com)
- The Friends of the Alpharetta Library is starting a new book club. This will be not only for Alpharetta residents, but is open to everyone. It is starting a Nonconformist Book Club. It will read an array of different genres of literature and meet for discussions on the material. The book club will begin on August 30 at the Alpharetta Library. (Paywall: ajc.com)

- Fulton County: Governor Brian Kemp is working to stop the subpoena to testify before the Fulton County special grand jury. A motion was filed on his behalf that questioned the subpoena's timing and stated that the Fulton County DA has no legal right to make Kemp testify. (thegeorgiasun.com)
