Here are the top three stories today in Roswell:
- The Roswell Woman’s Club is organizing the 5th annual BOO Y’all Scarecrow Contest. The fundraiser will benefit education and nonprofits in the North Fulton community. Registration to enter a scarecrow into the contest is $25 and began on Friday. Scarecrows will be placed throughout downtown Roswell until the end of October. (appenmedia.com)
- Full-time teachers in Fulton County will receive a 2% pay raise in January. The pay raises were approved on Thursday by the Board of Education. The board made a budget adjustment that includes about $10 million to cover this increase in salary. The board also agreed to allocate an additional $3 million to schools based on their student enrollment. (Paywall: ajc.com)
- A Roswell man had cash stolen from his car while at a grocery store in Roswell. The victim reported to police that he went to the bank inside the Publix grocery store on Rucker Road. After returning to his car, he noticed the driver’s door lock was broken and $9,500 cash was stolen from his center console. Surveillance footage of the parking lot showed someone get out of a car near the victim's, break the lock and take the money. (appenmedia.com)
