Here are the top three stories in Roswell today:
- Every fire and police station in Roswell will receive new fitness equipment thanks to a very generous donation. Roswell Orangetheory Fitness gifted the equipment after finding out the departments needed "all of their sort of health equipment updated and that they really wanted treadmills, but it wasn't in their budget.” According to City Councilmember Lee Hills, there was not enough in the city's budget to update the gyms for first responders. The donation was orchestrated by Julie Santana, the owner of Roswell Orangetheory Fitness. Ten treadmills were given to the police and fire departments. (13wmaz.com)
- On January 9, $650 worth of tools were reported stolen by a maintenance worker at the Roswell Housing Authority. The maintenance room was broken into that Monday night. A table saw, portable heater and toolbox with hand tools were taken. The organization's surveillance cameras are not positioned to view in the direction of the maintenance room. No fingerprints were uncovered at the scene. Roswell Police are still investigating this theft. (appenmedia.com)
- Prominent sports broadcaster, Ernie Johnson, Jr. and his family, are grieving after the death of his mother. Lois Marjorie Johnson passed away on Tuesday, January 17. She was 94 years old. Lois Johnson was the wife of former legendary Atlanta Braves broadcaster, Ernie Johnson, Sr. The NBA on TNT honored her life and legacy at Thursday night's game. Her visitation and funeral will be held on Monday, January 23 in Cumming. She will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery in Roswell. (wsbradio.com)
