Tom Price Named To Brian Kemp's Transition Team

ROSWELL, GA — Governor-elect Brian Kemp on Monday rolled out the names of local leaders and stakeholders who will help ensure a smooth transition to a new administration to lead the state of Georgia.

Kemp announced the members of his Georgians First Committee, which includes former U.S. Rep. Tom Price and Johns Creek City Councilman Jay Lin. Other Georgia Republican heavyweights who will work with the transition include former U.S. Rep. Bob Barr and Tricia Pridemore, a member of the Georgia Public Service Commission. Tim Fleming will serve as chief of staff and David Dove will lead the transition. Kemp also said Jeremy Brand, his campaign strategist, will serve as senior advisor.

Price, a doctor residing in Roswell, is the former Congressman representing Georgia's 6th District, which includes North Fulton County and parts of East Cobb and DeKalb counties. He was tapped to serve as President Donald Trump's secretary for Health and Human Services, but resigned in 2017 due to a scandal over his use of a private jet.

Barr, also a former Congressman who currently practices law, rose to popularity during the Republican takeover of the U.S. House of Representatives in the mid-1990s. Barr left Congress in 2003, but never stayed too far away from the political scene. Barr was the Libertarian Party's nominee for president in 2008 and in 2014, he announced a bid to run for the 11th Congressional District seat when former Rep. Phil Gingrey resigned from the seat to run for the U.S. Senate.

Members of the committee, said Kemp, “reflect the diversity, grit and values that make our state so great.” These men and women, Kemp added, will work with Gov. Nathan Deal and his staff to make sure everything is in order once he takes office on Jan. 14, 2019.
