Here are the top stories in Roswell today:

  1. The opening for the annual Winter Works in Clay show and sale will be hosted by Roswell's Clay Collective. The event is scheduled for December 1 at Art Center West, a community ceramic and blacksmithing studio. Works in Clay features handmade artwork from over 40 local artists who are members of the Roswell Clay Collective. The works of art that will be showcased are created by sculptors, hand-builders and artists. Their collections embody ceramics that are "functional, sculptural and whimsical." This exceptional sale will run until Sunday, December 10. The creators will be present everyday and will answer questions and give tours of Art Center West to those who may be interested in their classes and/or events.The exhibit and sale is free and open to the public and a portion of the proceeds will be reinvested for equipment and education at Art Center West.   2. Thrive Coworking is a provider of flexible office spaces for shared office space users. The company's co-working model also includes extracurricular activities such as hikes, paintball and opportunities to give back through charity. It has been growing significantly in the Atlanta market since the onset of the pandemic that brought about the increase of remote and hybrid workers. The company is planning to expand and open several flex office locations in surrounding metro areas over the next year. One of their future markets is in Roswell and the company plans on building a 10,000-square-foot space in the city to accommodate the increasing demand for flex working spaces in the area.   3. A $45,000 Cultural Facilities Grant was accepted by the Roswell City Council. The grant was provided by the Georgia Council for the Arts. A required 100% match from the city, will allow the expansion of projects that are currently funded and the purchase of equipment that supports arts programs at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center. Upgrades to meeting rooms at the Cultural Arts Center were already approved and budgeted for by the council. Projects to improve the lighting, replace one-third of the stage lighting,and an audio visual system can be fast-tracked for completion with the additional funds from this grant.( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)

  • City of Roswell, Georgia Government: The holiday season will officially begin with Roswell's Lighting of the Christmas Tree. The festive event will take place at Heart of Roswell Park on Friday, December 2 at 6:00 PM. The city will celebrate the season with carols, hot chocolate, fire pits, and s'mores.   • City of Roswell, Georgia: In preparation of #GivingTuesday on November 29, the city is giving thanks by honoring the staff that makes our city run efficiently. Lacy has worked in various roles throughout the city's Finance Department since she started working with the city in 2018. She is currently the Accounts Payable & Revenue Manager and coordinates vendor payments and fees received from the city's customers. (City of Roswell, Georgia via Twitter)
  • City of Roswell, Georgia: Sunday, November 27 will mark the beginning of early voting for the upcoming run-off election. Early voting will be permitted through Friday, December 2.
