Here are the top three stories today in Roswell:
- The high school drama group from The Cottage School in Roswell will be competing in GISA Region 1AA One-Act Play contest. The contest will take place on Sunday, October 30 at Brandon Hall School in Atlanta. The Cottage School's drama group will perform "Cut" by Ed Monk. This is a comedy about actors who are trapped in different scenes and doesn't know who is directing who. The play will also be dramatized for the TCS Community on Friday, November 11. (facebook.com)
- There are still a few tenants who are still trying to find housing and are still residing at the Grove Way Apartments in Roswell. Beth Brown, the executive director of the Gainesville Housing Authority who manages the property, reported that she believes the number of remaining tenants to decrease to six within the next 30 days. At this time, three tenants have yet to find housing options. The current housing shortage combined with the lack of landlords who will accept Section 8 vouchers are the most common reasons for the residents’ limited options. At the most recent Roswell Housing Authority meeting on October 11, the chairwoman of the Housing Authority met with a group of legislators to discuss these issues. State Rep. Chuck Martin seemed interested in getting involved to help this challenging situation. (appenmedia.com)
- A new National Election Committee was appointed at the 72nd Biennial Convention in Chicago. This group conducts the election of national officers for the National Association of Letter Carrier (NALC) for four-year terms. A local resident of the city has been appointed to this committee. Paul Barner of Roswell was named executive vice president. The members that were elected to the committee were limited to NALC members who were in good-standing in their respective regions.
