Update: 6 Candidates Qualify for Snellville City Council Seats
Three seats are on the ballot for the general election in November.

Monday marks the first day of the qualifying period for the November general election forΒ the city of Snellville, and six candidates have qualified already for the open seats.Β
Three seats are on the ballot for the city council, and those seats are currently held byΒ Mayor Pro Tem Tom Witts, Councilman Bobby Howard and Councilman Mike Sabbagh. All three incumbents qualified Monday for re-election.Β
Former Mayor Pro Tem and six-year councilwomanΒ Barbara Bender qualified to run against Sabbagh's seat. BenderΒ ran for the mayor's seatΒ in 2011 against current Mayor Kelly Kautz,Β has served as vice president of the Snellville Tourism and Trade Association and is president of the Snellville Entrepreneur Council. She also is actively involved in theΒ Snellville Veterans Memorial project,
Running for Witts' seat isΒ Alisa Boykin. She is on the Snellville Public Arts Commission and theΒ owner ofΒ Educational Arts Programs (EAP) of America. Snellville Patch did a profile on herΒ last year.
Lastly, Dexter HarrisonΒ qualified to run against Howard. Harrison is aΒ military veteran, a retiree from Piedmont Hospital and a former employee of AT&T.Β
