Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities Sponsors Local Time and Talent Exchange

"Gwinnett Gives" Timebank will take place tomorrow, Nov. 3.

On Saturday, November 3,Β Gwinnett County residents can expand their personal support network byΒ joining the Gwinnett Gives TimeBank Β at its launch party on Saturday,Β Nov. 3 from 12 to 2pm in Snellville at the Grace Fellowship Church, 1400Β Dogwood Road. Β 

The Gwinnett Gives TimeBank is part of a nationalΒ movement to promote equality and build caring community economies in anΒ inclusive manner, regardless of ability, age, race or other factors.Β Learn more atΒ www.timebanks.org.

In a TimeBank, people share their gifts and talents for an hour andΒ receive an hour from anyone else in the group. It’s free to join.Β Current offers in the Gwinnett Gives TimeBank range from tutoring andΒ transportation to cleaning and companionship. For example: Mary earnsΒ time β€œdollars” or credit by cleaning the home of her elderlyΒ neighbor Joe. She then redeems her time β€œdollars” for care giving (aΒ baby sitter), provided by Ann. Ann uses her time dollars for SAT
tutoring. Joe earns his time dollars by providing transportation for AnnΒ to her tutoring session.

Gwinnett Gives TimeBank is a project of the Georgia Council onΒ Developmental Disabilities (www.GCDD.org) Real Communities initiative,Β created to equip people with and without disabilities at the grassrootsΒ level to work together toward common goals to improve their ownΒ community. Β On Saturday, the Gwinnett County community is invited toΒ learn about this reciprocal concept which values and respects everyoneΒ and understands that there are times when our gifts, talents andΒ abilities are beyond price. There will be games, giveaways, crafts and
