O'Charley's Debuts Remodeling With Ribbon Cutting

Hometown hero Jim Lynch, a Vietnam veteran, also was given special recognition at the event off Scenic Highway in Snellville.

The O'Charley's restaurant off Scenic Highway inΒ Snellville held a ribbon cutting Tuesday (Aug. 27) to show off its recentΒ renovations.Β

Cadets ofΒ Snellville Middle School'sΒ Junior Leadership CorpsΒ opened the event with a presentation of the colors and the singing of the national anthem while theΒ Greater Eastside Chamber of Commerce presented the ribbon and scissors.Β

"We want to thank O'Charley's for being a big part of our community," saidΒ Jamie Dempsey, the president of the GECC. "As Snellville grows, as its business community grows, and as different business in Snellville grow, we want to definitely recognize O'Charley's for being a part [of it]Β through several years now, even to the point where it was time for a new makeover.

"Hopefully it will serve you guys well moving in to the future," he added.

O'Charley's General Manager Michelle Prior gave the honor of cutting the ribbon to hometown heroΒ Jim Lynch, who's aΒ Vietnam veteran, a chief warrant officerΒ and the quartermaster at the Veterans of Foreign WarsΒ Post 4180.

Other VFW members, veteransΒ and more were recognized at the cutting.Β Mayor Pro Tem Tom Witts andΒ Councilman Bobby Howard also were in attendance.Β

After the cutting, attendees were welcome to free appetizers inside and to see the new design.Β

The renovations, which were completed from Aug. 11-17 when the restaurant was closed,Β is a complete facelift both inside and out. The interior has new carpets, booths, chairs, blinds and paint, and the exterior has new signage, fixtures and paint.

"It is a big transformation, and it's definitely, absolutely opened up the entire restaurant," Prior said.Β

Customers have responded well to the changes and have agreed that it feels more airy, she added. They enjoy the colors and the restaurant seems more of a family-style than before.Β

One thing some have noted missing isΒ the Snellville mural, though. Prior said it's becauseΒ some guests have been dining there for more than a decade.

The Snellville location is one of three O'Charley's franchises in the Atlanta area to receive the renovations. The location inΒ Acworth had its remodeling done theΒ same week, andΒ McDonough will have its changes startingΒ next week.Β
