Here's what's happening in Snellville this week:Β
TheΒ Snellville Commerce ClubΒ is hosting its monthly luncheon at noonΒ Tuesday, Sept. 3Β inΒ city hall.Β David Martin with the Georgia Council on Economic Education will be the guest speaker. His group works with school districts and teachers,Β including in Gwinnett, to provide resources for teaching economics to students.Β Admission is $15 (with food included), butΒ first-time guestsΒ get in free andΒ SnellvilleΒ Tourism & Trade members at the Classic level or higher also have a free ticket.
TheΒ Centerville Community Center is kicking offΒ two classes this Thursday:Β one on interior design and another on gardening. For the designing course, learn theΒ principles and elements of design; how to makeΒ floor plans; work with color, finishes andΒ fabrics; install window treatments; create focal points; and more.
New London Theatre's production of "Born Yesterday" ends this weekend. The play is about aΒ vulgar, egotistic junkman Harry Brock who goes to aΒ swanky hotel in Washington to make crooked deals with government big-wigs. The show plays Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Click here for more details.
The city's monthlyΒ Blood DriveΒ is this Friday, Sept. 6, from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Swing byΒ Snellville City HallΒ to donate a pint of blood and you've done your good deed for the day.Β
It's officially September, meaningΒ Football is well underway now. On Friday, Brookwood will be at Mill Creek, Shiloh will be at Redan, and South Gwinnett will be hosting Duluth.Β Grayson is taking a break this week.Β
Finally, end the week with the Snellville Farmers MarketΒ from 8 a.m. to noonΒ SaturdayΒ on the town green. This week, they're hosting the 2nd Annual Dog Contest.Β Head down to the town green with your pupsΒ and fill out a form at the official farmers' market booth by 8:30 a.m.Β to enter into one of these categories:Β biggest, smallest, best dressed, fluffiest, best trick, most wrinkles or cutest nose.Β The contest officially starts at 9:30 a.m.
