Farmers Market Dog Contest and Snellville Commerce Club: This Week in Town

Here's what's happening in Snellville this week: 

The Snellville Commerce Club is hosting its monthly luncheon at noon Tuesday, Sept. 3 in city hall. David Martin with the Georgia Council on Economic Education will be the guest speaker. His group works with school districts and teachers, including in Gwinnett, to provide resources for teaching economics to students. Admission is $15 (with food included), but first-time guests get in free and Snellville Tourism & Trade members at the Classic level or higher also have a free ticket.

The Centerville Community Center is kicking off two classes this Thursday: one on interior design and another on gardening. For the designing course, learn the principles and elements of design; how to make floor plans; work with color, finishes and fabrics; install window treatments; create focal points; and more.

New London Theatre's production of "Born Yesterday" ends this weekend. The play is about a vulgar, egotistic junkman Harry Brock who goes to a swanky hotel in Washington to make crooked deals with government big-wigs. The show plays Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Click here for more details.

The city's monthly Blood Drive is this Friday, Sept. 6, from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Swing by Snellville City Hall to donate a pint of blood and you've done your good deed for the day. 

It's officially September, meaning Football is well underway now. On Friday, Brookwood will be at Mill Creek, Shiloh will be at Redan, and South Gwinnett will be hosting Duluth. Grayson is taking a break this week. 

Finally, end the week with the Snellville Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday on the town green. This week, they're hosting the 2nd Annual Dog Contest. Head down to the town green with your pups and fill out a form at the official farmers' market booth by 8:30 a.m. to enter into one of these categories: biggest, smallest, best dressed, fluffiest, best trick, most wrinkles or cutest nose. The contest officially starts at 9:30 a.m.
