State Democratic Party Chairman Stepping Down
Chairman Mike Berlon has been chairman since 2011. The details of his resignation are being ironed out.

The leader of Georgia's Democratic Party is stepping down, following mounting concerns by party leaders that his personal life was becoming a distraction.
Recently, Mike Berlon -- head of Georgia's Democratic Party since 2011 -- had been mired in financial and legal woes. Additionally, party officials said in a press release that Berlon also has health concerns.
"The details of my resignation will need to be worked out over the next few days and weeks," Berlon said in the statement. "I want to talk to my staff and the leadership of our party to ensure a smooth transition. There is a great deal at stake."

Berlon, a Lawrenceville-Grayson area attorney, will speak to the media next week to answer questions about his resignation.
