Suspect Attempts to Scam Woman, 83, by Claiming to Deliver Package

The man told her that he was delivering a package, but the victim told police she hadn't ordered anything.

An elderly Snellville woman thought it was best to call police after receiving numerous phone calls from an unknown man asking her when she would be home.

According to the Snellville Police report, the anonymous caller phoned the 83-year-old woman three times on a recent Thursday.

He told her that he needed to know the time she would be getting home because he had a package for her. The woman simply stated that she didn't need anything, nor did she order anything.

She hung up the phone, but the man kept calling over the next two days, totaling the number of calls to six.

The elderly woman told police that she had been a victim of fraud in the past, so she wanted a report just in case. She thought it was strange because the caller knew her name, and during most of the call, there was static. Additionally, the phone number always came from a private number.
