Police Shooting Injures Man In DeKalb

A man refused verbal commands to move away from a handgun when he was injured in a police shooting, Georgia authorities say.

STONE MOUNTAIN, GA — A man was injured in a police shooting around 11:30 p.m. Sunday at Wood Drive, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Monday.

Police said an officer was responding to a domestic dispute at the time of the shooting. When the officer arrived, he saw a man in the parking lot with a nearby handgun on the ground, the GBI said.

The man, who was not involved in the dispute, refused verbal commands to move away from the gun, the GBI said. Additionally, authorities said the man did not get down onto the ground away from the gun as the officer commanded.
