Healthcare Business Makes Plans for Suwanee Gateway

A healthcare company that operates transitional care facilities has filed plans to develop a site in the Suwanee Gateway area, according to officials.

Golden Living, which describes itself as a "leader in post-acute healthcare," has received a grading permit and concept plan for a transitional care facility, according to Josh Campbell, Suwanee's director of planning.

Kelli Luneborg, a spokesperson for Texas-based Golden Living, said this week that the facility in Suwanee would be a "replacement building" for its current facility. She would not elaborate further, citing the early nature of the plans.

Campbell, whose office regulates planning in Suwanee, said no building permit has yet been issued.

Documents on file with the Gwinnett County planning department say that the facility would be 44,000 square feet and be located on Northolt Parkway in Suwanee. Campbell said it would be in the Terraces at Suwanee Gateway development. The project is titled Salude Transitional Care Center.

"Transitional care," according to Wikipedia, generally involves patients with a chronic or acute illness. It refers to the actions of healthcare providers that are designed to ensure the coordination and continuity of health care during the movement between health care practitioners and settings as the patients'  condition and care needs change.

This would mark another positive shot in the arm for development in the Suwanee Gateway. that has become an eyesore and crime nest; plans are to demolish the building.
