NO FURLOUGH DAYS FOR GCPS IN 2013-14: Teachers in the Gwinnett school system have not had pay raises in several years, thanks to the economic downturn. .

NEW RESTAURANT OPENINGS: Suwanee likes to dine out, and both the Uptown Grille and Friends Suwanee Grill announced opening dates recently.

NEW DEVELOPMENT: A new commercial development that will include a restaurant is planned for an area of unincorporated Suwanee near I-85.

GEORGIA GUN BILL DIES: A controversial bill that would have allowed licensed gun owners to carry weapons into churches an onto college campuses never came to a vote in the 2013 General Assembly.

TEENS CHARGED IN IPHONE THEFTS: Thieves like those snazzy iPhones, too. But Gwinnett Police recently were aided by an iCloud tracking device in pursuing theft suspects.
