North Gwinnett Girls in State Basketball Finals

Yogi Berra might say, "It's like deja vu all over again." The North Gwinnett girls have reached their first state basketball final -- and have to beat a longtime region rival for the title.

North defeated North Cobb 57-40 on Saturday in the semifinals at Georgia Tech. Also winning Saturday was Norcross, which defeated Langston Hughes with a 64-16 smacking in the other semifinal.

Now, North must prepare for a familiar foe in the finals. It beat Norcross in two of three games this season, including for the Region 7-AAAAAA title.

"It's just like preparing for a region game," North's Lexie Brown said of facing Norcross. "It's always a great game."

The title game will be Saturday (March 9) at the Macon Centreplex, starting at 7  p.m.
