Suwanee continues Gateway makeover: No one can accused Suwanee officials of turning a deaf ear to citizen feedback. The city recently paid $1.25 million to buy a blighted hotel in the Gateway area near I-85. Another restaurant to open: All is not lost for area restaurants. Friends Sports Grill, which already has a popular site in Dacula, has received its alcohol license from the city. It plans a March opening.

New car tax takes effect: Beginning March 1, when purchasing a vehicle. This replaces the "birthday tax," which continues for people who keep their vehicle.
