Uptown Grille Opening May Be Delayed
A recent restaurant health inspection raises questions about the Town Center eatery.

The targeted April 15 rollout of the Uptown Grille in Suwanee Town Center may not come off.
A recent restaurant health inspection by the Gwinnett Health Department noted several violations, and carried an "N/A" score. Typically, that is a rating given to establishments with new or changing ownership.
The inspection, which was conducted April 8, carried the following notation: "NOT OK TO PERMIT- all violations must be corrected prior to re-inspection."

Officials with the Gwinnett Health Department could not be reached for comment. Also, Uptown Grille officials could not be reached.
The following violations were among those noted:

- No hand soap provided at any handsinks in the facility. Hand soap must be provided at handsinks at all times. New Violation.
- No paper towels provided at handsinks in facility. Paper towels must be provided at handsinks at all times. New Violation.
- No thermometer capable of testing the temperature of foods. A thermometer capable of taking the temperature of thinly sliced foods must be provided. New Violation.
Also, that location, which used to be the Olde Towne Tavern & Grille, is known for an open air bar area that overlooks Town Center Park. The report made the following notation:
- Open bar windows may remain as is without screens or air curtains. However, if there are any complaints regarding flies or any other pests in facility, windows will be required to come into compliance at that time per WH

The owners have said that they plan Uptown Grille to be upscale, in the pattern of the Cheesecake Factory.
