Workout Group Holds Benefit for Friend With Breast Cancer

Members of a Suwanee facility also have a surprise gathering to present their gift.

It was a little more crowded than usual on a recent Saturday at a Suwanee workout facility. And a lot of the patrons wore some common attire.

Turns out, a surprise benefit for a workout partner was in the works. The group had organized a fund-raiser for Dawn Tousley, who has Stage 3 breast cancer. The group members were to present the funds to Tousley at her usual workout time.

The surprise came off, as Tousley was surprised and tearful upon receiving the news and the $1,500. The workers had sold T-shirts inscribed with "Dawn's battle is our battle" to raise the money. The group works out at a facility at a Suwanee apartment complex, though not everyone resides at the complex.

Jennifer Angier of Duluth was the point person for the effort. She told the workout crowd at the presentation that she also wanted to have "a table full of bagels" at the benefit. "What am I going to do, have a bunch of Power Bars?"
