Emory Hospital, Children’s Healthcare Named Best Atlanta Hospitals

Specialties rank among top in the nation

and were named the best hospitals in the Metro Atlanta area by U.S. News and World Report this week.

The report also ranked Emory among the top in the nation in 10 specialties, including Ophthalmology (15), Psychiatry (15), Cardiology & Heart Surgery (17) and Neurology & Neurosurgery (18).

 in Buckhead ranked number two in Atlanta, followed by Shepherd Center, also in Buckhead, and  on the Emory Campus.

 was ranked number five, and Grady Memorial Hospital was ranked number nine.

U.S. News and World Report ranked hospitals in 94 metro areas, including 52 regions with a population of at least one million residents. This is the 22nd year the organization has ranked hospitals nationwide.

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta was named the best children's hospital in the regaion and also ranked among the top in the nation in 10 specialties, including Pediatrics: Cardiology & Heart Surgery (7), Pediatrics: Orthopedics (8), Pediatrics: Urology (11) and Pediatrics: Cancer (12).

Top hospitals in the nation include Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md., Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Mass. and The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn..
