"Hair" Are Your Beard Contest Winners

Father and Son take "Beast Creative" in Battle of the Beards contest.

It was literally a hairy competition, but a father-and-son team took the most creative medals Friday in the Battle of the Beards contest.

The contest was held at The Masquerade, in Virginia Highland.

Ben Christopher of East Atlanta and his dad, Jon, were awarded the "Best Creative" for their furried faces.

"It's wild. Neither one of thought we had a snowball's chance," Jon Christopher, who lives in the Snellville area, said.

Jon Christopher also was named "Grand Champion," for his overall look.

But he credits that to the holiday season, as he has white hair and a beard.

"I ve got the full head of white here, Jon Christopher said. "I give Santa more credit than I give myself."

Ben Christopher, a bartender at the Earl, invited his dad to go with him and then they decided to enter it together.

The elder Christopher has had a beard for more than 30 years, while his sone has been growing his for several years.

The contest celebrates beards and served to collect toys and needed supplies for the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta.
