Historian to Sign New Book on Atlanta Murders

Book signing will be held at Manuel's Thurs., Sept. 15

The author of a book that chronicles the unsolved murder of at least twenty women in the early 1900’s will hold a book signing at this week.

Georgia historian Jeffery Wells will sign copies of his new book, The Atlanta Ripper, on Thurs., Sept. 15, at Manuel’s.

The book chronicles the murder of at least twenty women between 1911 and 1915 by a killer whose methods closely imitated the work of the famous Jack the Ripper. According to the book, killings continued throughout 1915 despite police investigations, and police failed to find the killer.

Wells, an assistant professor of history at Georgia Military College, is also the author of In Atlanta or In Hell: The Camp Creek Train Crash of 1900.

The book signing Thurs. begins at 7 p.m. at Manuel’s Tavern, 602 N. Highland Avenue. The event is free and open to the public.
