Plaza Theatre to Screen Film About KKK's Presence in Stone Mountain

The Atlanta Film Festival will include a selection of shorts set in and around Atlanta, including the true-life story of an autistic woman who plays a tuba in Little Five Points for change and a documentary looking back at Ku Klux Klan activity in Stone Mountain.

According to the festival's Facebook page, the block of short films called "This is Atlanta" will be screened at 5 p.m. on the festival's opening day, March 15.

The film about the Klan, "Out of Stone," is directed by Stephen Grum. Here is the description on Youtube:

Out of Stone tells the story of Stone Mountain, GA, a small community not far from Atlanta, that was the center of the largest Ku Klux Klan revival during the 20th century. Though it would seem to be a place of racial hatred and discrimination, the citizens of Stone Mountain tell a different story.

The festival will include a screening of family friendly animated works, feature-length films, documentary shorts, lectures and more.
