Volunteers Needed for Thanksgiving Dinner Project
Donate holiday dinner to Station 19 firefighters

In continuing with holiday traditions in Virginia-Highland, a neighborhood group is looking for volunteers to help provide Thanksgiving dinner to the firefighters at Station 19 during Thanksgiving week.
John Wolfinger, head of the project, is looking for restaurants, caterers and residents to donate dinner for each of the three daily shifts at the fire station on Nov. 23, Nov. 24 and Nov. 25.
“It could be an individual family or group that would prepare a home-made traditional dinner and deliver it to the firehouse. It does not necessarily have to be a commercial restaurant or caterer,” Wolfinger told Patch.

Each shift has three fire fighters on duty.
“Hopefully having some community members pick up the dinner and personally deliver it and set it out for serving will make it more personal and neighborly,” he said. “Maybe providing a floral centerpiece would be a nice touch too - something that would last for all three days.”

Wolfinger is also looking for someone to take the lead on this project while he organizes the police zone six dinner project that will be taking place at the same time.
