2,000 Cobb Coke Workers Moving

But the company is not severing ties with the county.

Coca-Cola officials announced Monday that they plan to relocate 2,000 information technology workers from Cobb to downtown Atlanta.

Those employees are part of the Coca-Cola Refreshments division at 3200 Wildwood Plaza off Windy Hill Road, according to multiple news reports.

When it opens in mid-2014, affected workers will move to Coca-Cola's new IT Center of Excellence at the SunTrust Plaza Garden building on the corner of Peachtree Center Avenue and Baker Street.

"This opportunity comes as the existing lease at 3200 Wildwood Plaza expires at the end of the year and is part of the ongoing enhancement and consolidation of facilities made possible by The Coca-Cola Company’s acquisition of Coca-Cola Enterprises’ former North America operations in 2010," according to a Coca-Cola memo posted on the Atlanta Business Chronicle's website. "The move will combine most of our IT teams currently located at the 3200 Wildwood building and the Atlanta Office Complex (AOC) in a new office location near the AOC."

Coca-Cola is not severing ties with Cobb. It will continue to have workers at 2500 Wildwood Plaza, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Marietta Daily Journal.
