Does Your State Candidates Support Alzheimer's State Legislation?

Ask Your Candidates to Support Alzheimer's Legislation The election season is upon us and we turn our thoughts to the issues facing our State, Community and Families. There is no better time to consider the health crisis of Alzheimer's. This issue is truly bipartisan issue, as the disease has no party preferences and affects each constituent with equal devastation. I believe the better informed we are the better choices we can make for ourselves and our families. Today, in Georgia, there are an estimated 180,000 citizens with Alzheimer's and dementia and in 2016 there were 500,000 Georgians that provided unpaid care for Alzheimer's and dementia patients. This represents an estimated 591 million hours and is valued at $7.5 Billion. Nationally, a new Alzheimer's diagnosis is made every 65 seconds. The personal cost to families drains their finances and wipes out retirement savings, truly devastating. Those who provide unpaid care 63% devoted at least 20 hours per week providing this care, many taking time off from work leading to their employers loss of efficiency and costing the State lost revenue. I urge you to ask your candidate, if elected, What will you do to address this health crisis in our State ? What will you do to insure our State Alzheimer's Plan is effectively implemented?

What will you do to increase Home and Community Based Services?

What will you do to insure that all Alzheimer's and Dementia patients have access to Long Term Care?

Join me in asking Georgia candidates to support these critical priorities. I thank my elected officials in the Georgia Assembly, Rep Michael Smith and Senator Jen Jordan for their Support of Alzheimer's State Legislation in this past year’s session.
