You may not know this, but Sept. 26 is Johnny Appleseed Day, marking the birth of the folk hero who spread apple trees from West Virginia to Pennsylvania. (It should be noted that Johnny Appleseed Day also is recognized as March 11, the date of his death.
We thought we'd share a little of own apple love to commemorate the day. Here are five Southern apple pie recipes to sweeten the day.
