National Beer Day: The Best Beer Joints In Cobb County

In honor of National Beer Day, here are some of the top bars and taverns for beer in Marietta, Smyrna, Kennesaw and other Cobb areas.

WEST COBB, GA -- When you enter a bar, it'd be nice if it was a place that had not only good beer, but good cheer. You know, a place "where everybooody knows your name." While the "Cheers" bar is made for TV, in reality, the Atlanta-area has some spots that come awfully close.
Whether you like ale, lager, a porter, or some other type of beer, we can all agree atmosphere, vibe and other intangibles contribute to the values of a nice beer spot. With that in mind, Cobb County has had a beer renaissance as of late, with several establishments touting their wares not as "bars" or "taverns" but as "breweries."
In honor of National Beer Day, here are some Cobb joints where you can indulge in some good beer and cheer:

Southern Sky Brewing: 1590 N Roberts RdKennesaw, GA 30144: A Yelper says: "Lots of great things starting here. Not as big as some of then other breweries YET...but it won't be long. This is a family affair and they have their vision. Some were not my style but others were fantastic. Very impressed with the intense chemistry happening in the brewing process."

Chuy’s Akers Mill: 2955 Cobb Pkwy SEAtlanta, GA 30339. A Yelper says: "Whats not to love about Chuy's? quirky decor. Simple crispy chicken tacos and guacamole are all anyone really needs to get through a rough work week. I am also a fan of the boom boom sauce. The chicken tacos are always tender and delicious."

Burnt Hickory Brewery: 2260 Moon Station Ct Kennesaw, GA 30144. A Yelper says: "Awesome change up for a brewery they always have some crazy beer on draft and are a nice change up from the regular IPA and lagers most brewery's have on tap all the time. Overall good beer and a pretty fun atmosphere I would definitely recommend checking it out if you get a chance."

Red Hare Brewing Company: 1998 Delk Industrial Blvd Marietta, GA 30067. A Yelper says: "Hearing only good things about Red Hare I decided to try it out for myself. I went over with a medium-sized group to enjoy the venue and had a superb time. For $12 we were each allowed 6 drink samples, a tour of the brewery, live music, access to outside games, and a great excuse to just hang out and talk."

Schoolhouse Beer And Brewing: 800 Whitlock AveMarietta, GA 30064. A Yelper says: "Another unique part of his business is that you can brew your own all-grain recipes in store, and let it ferment in his temperature regulated refrigeration unit! This is amazing, as it's college level, personal training on all grain brewing."
