Teen Shot At Cobb Movie Theater: Authorities

Teenager shot at Cobb County movie theater, police say.

WEST COBB, GA -- A 16-year-old is on the mend after being shot Tuesday night at a Cobb County movie theater, according to authorities. The teen, who is not being identified, was rushed to the hospital but does not have life-threatening injuries.

The shooting occurred about 11 p.m. in Austell outside the Regal Cinemas 22 on the East-West Connector, Cobb police Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

Patch has reached out to Cobb authorities to learn more about the incident, which escalated as a brawl was about to begin among a group of people.

"A physical confrontation was about to take place between two males,” Pierce said. “Prior to the fight, and as the 16-year-old was retreating, he was shot in the right leg by the second male.”

Police are still investigating the shooting Wednesday morning, Pierce said. Authorities have not shared whether they know who fired the shot or whether any charges will be filed in the incident.
