While most trick-or-treaters hoped for candy this Halloween, University of Evansville student Patricia Anderson of Woodstock went door-to-door with a different purpose: collecting canned goods for the Tri-State Food Bank.
Anderson, a member of Phi Mu sorority who is majoring in Psychology, was one of 72 UE students who participated in the third annual Trick Or Eat, sponsored by UE Greek Life. Spreading out across neighborhoods near UE's campus, the group collected approximately 700 cans in two hours on Sunday, Oct. 30.
"Thanks to the efforts of volunteers such as Patricia Anderson, the Tri-State Food Bank is able to distribute food to 33 counties in Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky, where more than 126,000 people live in poverty," said Mary Blair, executive director of the Tri-State Food Bank. "All of us at the food bank are truly grateful for Patricia's commitment to fighting hunger and improving the quality of life for families and children in our community."
