- The Cherokee County Master Gardeners and the Cherokee County UGA Extension are hosting a class to teach the basics about bulb planting flowers and vegetables in the fall for a spring bloom or yield. Participants will receive fall bulbs to bring home and will also get a demonstration on planting a "lasagna pot." Please register for the October 1 class taking place at the William G. Long Senior Center (WGLSC) Activity Center Expansion at 223 Arnold Mill Road. (Woodstock Parks and Recreation)
- Voting will begin this weekend for the Scarecrow Invasion downtown. There is a location map available online, head over to Main Street to check out the hard work all our neighbors have put into the scarecrows this year, then vote for your favorite! Voting is open at the visitors center through the month of October for $1 a vote. The visitors center is open from Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and is located in Dean's Store, 8858 Main Street. (Visit Woodstock)
- The Cherokee County Animal Shelter is in need of paper towels and canned cat and dog food. Donations of any kind are welcome, but other items the shelter listed in their most recent Facebook post include dry cat and dog food, cat wand toys, distilled water, powder-free vinyl gloves and plastic spoons. If you would like to donate, they also have an Amazon wish lists categorized as general needs, the PAWS Pet Pantry and shelter pet enrichment. (Cherokee County Animal Shelter via Facebook)
- The Cherokee County Aquatic Center is hiring! Open positions include lifeguards, swim instructors, front desk attendant and water aerobics instructor. Please head over to the Cherokee County website to search the available aquatic center positions or you can search through open positions for the Cherokee County Government. - Virtual Visit - North Carolina Maritime Museum: learn about the culture and geography of the Outer Banks. Please RSVP online here. A guest from the North Carolina Maritime Museum will be speaking at the event today at the Rose Creek Library, 4476 Towne Lake Parkway. (11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.)
- Hot Vinyasa: all levels are welcome, though some prior experience is helpful to the class held at Ember Hot Yoga, 330 Chambers Street. (6:30 p.m. - 7:45 p.m.)
- Regular meeting of the Mayor and Council: The agenda can be viewed online, there is time slated for public comment during the meeting at The Chambers at City Center, 8534 Main Street. (7 p.m.)

- The Cherokee Career Expo is this Wednesday, September 28. Resume review assistance is available and will begin prior to the event at 1 p.m. Registration for job seekers is free, check out the website for more details on the event to be held at the Northside Hospital Cherokee Conference Center, 1130 Bluffs Parkway, Canton. (2 p.m. - 6 p.m.)
- September's Caregiver Support Meeting will be held Thursday, September 29 at 5:30 p.m. Please RSVP to Stacy Jones or Sydney Brown at stjones@cherokeega.com or snbrown@cherokeega.com respectively. - The new TrailStory project will be located on the Towne Lake Pass Trail in October. Highlighting the book "A Tale of Two Beasts" by Fiona Roberton, signs will be placed along the trail displaying pages from the book and QR codes that lead to questions about the book. Enjoy reading as you and your family walk the trail, enjoying nature at your own pace. The Greenprints trail starts at Woofstock Park. (Woodstock Parks and Recreation)
