Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
no
Age
39
Previous public office, appointive or elective
I was the appointed Executive Assistant to the Mayor of Roswell
Why are you seeking this office?
I am seeking office to prioritize a strategic plan that outlines our future goals for responsible growth and development. Also, to invest in our public safety and protect our natural resources.
Please complete this statement: The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ___, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Future growth and development. I intend to push for a strategic plan which plans for infrastructure improvements, details how these areas should look after development, and, most importantly, prioritizes residential development close to cities.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
There are two significant differences between my opponent and myself. First, he thinks the current land use map is a sufficient tool to plan for our future. The land use map does not plan for infrastructure improvements or provide any design guidelines. Secondly, my opponent believes that nepotism within government roles is acceptable, particularly when appointing family members to boards, which is why he has appointed his father to three boards.
If you are challenging an incumbent, in what way has the current officeholder failed the community?
The current commissioner for district 4 is not a bad guy. In fact, we don't have a "bad" county commission. But there is a lack of energy to plan for and protect the future of Cherokee County. Hard work and dedication to protecting our future are currently lacking on the County Commission.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
We must address the pay of our first responders. We need to get the Fire Department staffing levels up to an acceptable level and address the poor conditions of some of the fire stations. I would also like to discuss a tax credit for first responders to make it easier to live and work in Cherokee County.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have spent my career working for nonprofits and government agencies. I played a key role on the Roswell Movie Task Force to help bring more filming and jobs to Roswell, GA. Additionally, I have consulted the City of South Fulton on how to preserve rural farmland. I understand how local government agencies should operate and the process of long-term planning
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
Find out who you are and do it on purpose - Dolly Parton
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I am a wife, a mother, a child of God, and a public servant. I can think of no better way to spend the next four years than working to improve the lives of Cherokee County residents. I am very excited to get to work in January of 2023!
