Canton PD Accepting Applications For Shop With A Cop
The agency's initiative will be held Thursday, Dec. 14 at Target, and will benefit about 20 less fortunate families.

CANTON, GA —The Canton Police Department is accepting applications and referrals for its annual Shop with a Cop initiative. This year's event will be held at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 at Target in Canton.
Canton officers and police explorers will be providing gifts to children who would not ordinarily be receiving much, if anything, this year. Officers will be helping about 20 families in need this Christmas season. The program allows officers to pair up with children of less fortunate families to shop for toys or other items for Christmas.
To fund this annual community-drive program, the Police Department has received donations from local business and organizations to help support its efforts.

Officers were also able to raise money by taking part in quirky campaigns such as "No Shave and Paint your Nails November and December. These initiatives, which allows cops to deviate from required grooming standards while raising money for a cause, have brought in about $1,200 for Shop with a Cop.
