Here are the top four stories in Woodstock-Towne Lake today:

  1. The Cherokee County School District (CCSD) Career Pathway programs offered at all county high schools have helped create successful futures for many students. The district has 38 Career Pathway programs, but all schools offer the arts, audio/visual technology and communications program. Career pathways within the program range from producer and director to set designer and camera operator, among many others. As part of a CCSD news series that will highlight different stories from the Career Pathway program, Jeff Wagner, an 18-year educator, was spotlighted this week as the program teacher at Woodstock High School.   2. Johnston Elementary School has named Tammy Scanlon a 2022 Support Staff Employee of the Year. Scanlon, an IEP paraprofessional, has been with the school for five years. The school principal praised her for her work ethic and dedication to the school and students. (CCSD)
  3. The winners of Pie Day at Farm. Fresh. Market. were named! There was a lot of delicious pie and a lot of fun Saturday at the market. The first-place winner in the professional category was Anne Mullenax with an Apple Twist Pie. First place in the youth category was Julien McCreary with the Best Peach-Cherry Pie and the first-place winner in the adult category was Jimette Stetson with a Five Cheese Tomato Bacon Pie.   4. A 19-year-old man has been arrested for a 2019 string of thefts committed in Cherokee County. The charges against Cordovas Tucker of Atlanta include 10 counts of entering an automobile, nine counts of theft by taking and one count of burglary in the first degree.   • Cherokee County will be honoring those who lost their lives in a Patriot Day ceremony on Friday, September 9 at 8:30 a.m. The ceremony will take place at the Public Safety Memorial at Rotary Park in Canton. The event will also be live streamed. (Cherokee County via Facebook)
  • Keep Cherokee Beautiful is holding a cleanup event this Saturday. The roadside cleanup event will be on Bells Ferry Road at 9 a.m. and volunteers will meet in the Hobgood Park parking lot.
