Here are the top four stories today in Woodstock-Towne Lake:

  1. For the second year in a row, the Cherokee County School District (CCSD) Office of Financial Management received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Financial Officers Association. The certificate is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. (CCSD Press Release)
  2. Jekyll Brewing, an Alpharetta craft brewery, is expanding to downtown Woodstock. The brewery will open in December and will be located at 8634 Main Street, where Main & Mill and Public Woodstock used to be. Along with the brewery, the site will also include a distillery and an executive chef kitchen. As an added bonus, the owners plan to open a speakeasy in the basement around April 2023. (What Now Atlanta)
  3. In a beautiful story about strength and survival, Fox 5 spoke with a Cherokee County woman that was shot seven times by her husband in 2018. Through her determination and hard work in Atlanta's Shepherd Center, years later, she is able to walk. Tina Davis, a former runner, now uses crutches to walk, but the goal to walk without aid is within her reach given how far she's come. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  4. The CCSD Pathway Profile this week shines the spotlight on the Health Science - Diagnostics/Clinical Lab pathway. A River Ridge High School offering, the pathway is one of five Health Science Career Pathway programs in CCSD schools. The classes within the program include introduction to healthcare science, essentials of healthcare and clinical lab I. Students can even earn certification through the pathway. Some of the careers the pathway can guide students towards are geneticist, pharmacy technician, physician and biochemist, among many others. (CCSD Press Release)
