- The latest Towne Hall News took a moment to highlight safety issues and solutions for the families of Woodstock. National Preparedness Month is September, in place to increase awareness about the need to prepare for disasters and emergencies. The creation of an emergency plan and the collection of emergency supplies can save lives, and as this year's theme says, "The life you've built is worth protecting. Prepare for disasters to create a lasting legacy for you and your family." Fire Prevention Week is October 9-15, and The National Fire Protection Association is celebrating it's 100th year of fire prevention. The organization's new campaign "Fire won't wait. Plan your escape" urges citizens to prepare for a fire emergency by creating an exit plan and installing and maintaining smoke alarms. (The Towne Hall News)
- Assistant Chief Mark Hand of the Woodstock Police Department graduated from the Leadership Cherokee Class of 2022 last week. The class hosted by the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce is a nine-month program that "educates existing and emerging leaders of Cherokee County on social, economic, educational and governmental needs of the community." Congratulations! (Woodstock PD via Facebook)
