Cherokee Recycling Center To Reopen Sept. 25
The Blalock Road Recycling Center closed in August when the county discovered thefts allegedly perpetrated by two former employees.

HOLLY SPRINGS, GA — The Cherokee County Recycling Center on Blalock Road near Holly Springs will reopen to the public next week.
That's according to the Cherokee Marshal's Office, which said the facility at 470 Blalock Road will reopen at noon Tuesday, Sept. 25. Its hours of operation will be noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The facility will be closed Sundays and Mondays.
As readers recall, the facility was closed in August while the county conducted an investigation into irregular operations at the Recycling Center. Days after announcing the closure, two former Cherokee County employees were charged with theft for allegedly accepting money from a third party for access to metal at the site.

The alleged thefts came to light while the Marshal's Office was working on a reorganization plan for the Recycling Center. Those charges were made during the overhaul, which prompted the Cherokee Sheriff's Office to launch an investigation to coincide with an internal probe.
The recycling center will now accept credit and debit cards, the Marshal's Office said. Customers can also pay by check and purchase prepaid recycling cards for $20 or $10 that have a $24 and $12 value to be used for later visits. Cash will not be accepted.
