Cherokee School District Wins Public Relations Awards
The Cherokee County School District won several awards, including Best In Category and Gold Awards in several categories.

CANTON, GA — The Cherokee County School District won top awards for communications and community engagement, including three Best in State top honors, from the Georgia School Public Relations Association.
The organization's annual Publications, Photography & Electronic Media Contest recognizes outstanding work by public schools, school systems, post-secondary institutions, and educational agencies and associations. The winners were announced Saturday at the Association’s Annual Conference. CCSD earned the highest total of Best in State awards presented, as well as six Gold, 11 Silver and four Bronze awards.
“Outstanding communication is vital to the success of any organization, and we’re committed to continuously improving how we communicate with and engage with our students, parents, employees and community,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Hightower said. “Our staff works diligently to serve our community, and it’s an honor for their commitment to daily excellence to earn statewide recognition.”

The Association during the awards dinner also made a surprise presentation of its Anne Raymond Distinguished Service Award to CCSD Chief Communications Officer Barbara P. Jacoby. The award, which is not presented every year, recognizes commitment and dedication to the organization and to the profession by an honoree who has “gone above and beyond the call.”
District staff members will be recognized by the Cherokee County School Board and the superintendent at the board's Nov. 15 meeting.
