Cherokee County was one of 317 governments in the U.S. and Canada that received this designation for FY2020, but Georgia had a great showing, with other GA recipients including the cities of Atlanta, Alpharetta, Gainesville, Milton, Monroe, Roswell, Social Circle, St. Marys and Suwanee. - The purchase, installation and deployment of new equipment designated for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operations in Cherokee County has been completed. Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) began the process in 2021 with the purchase of LUCAS Cardiopulmonary Assist System devices, Stryker Power Stretchers and Stryker Power Load mechanical lift systems to be installed in all ambulances using funds from the American Rescue Plan Act. The 21 felony charges currently leveled against the man include nine counts of identity theft fraud, six counts of first degree forgery, two counts of possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance and four counts of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. Charges stem from incidents where the suspect allegedly used a doctor's identity to create several phony prescriptions between July 11 and September 13 to obtain Ativan, Xanax and Adderall.
